The 15th of October Dobialab hosts an evening dedicated to the history of improvised music, presenting one of the most significant figures of the Montreal scene, Lori Freedman, and some of the historical exponents of the Friuli/ Isontine scene.

BRUMAT/ COGLIANDRO Duo

Lori Freedman is a twenty-first century clarinetist from Montréal . She is very active on tour, often performing 3 or 4 instruments at a time, including contrabass clarinet, bass clarinet, B-flat clarinet and E-flat clarinet. Continuing to draw from a unique and impressive array of works in the contemporary repertoire, Freedman is equally comfortable performing her own improvisations and compositions, as well as music written by other musicians, often specifically for her. Both on stage and in the recording studio, Freedman offers striking poetry to written and improvised music in the versatile roles of soloist, soloist with ensemble and ensemble player. Her catalog of works written for a variety of instrumental combinations grows steadily, and in addition to this already rich program, she plays and has played with musicians and improvisers around the world.

Flavio Brumat and Mimo Cogliandro are among the first diffusers of the culture of improvised and free music in the Isonzo area.
At Dobialab they have participated in numerous concerts with a variety of ensembles and formations, also being members of the cross-border collective Brez Meja, but never in the duo formula.
The concert enjoys the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec
