Better Live is an international project that will run until August 2026 and strives for sustainable circulation of musicians in Europe, taking into account economic, social and environmental aspects. Circulation will then take the form of small concerts in connection with local communities and will be fairly remunerated. The project supports and provides expertise for 9 informal networks throughout Europe, which are a condition for effective artistic circulation in Europe. Zavod Sploh is the lead partner in our region, and 12 Slovenian, Italian, and Croatian organizations involved in promoting concerts and other events related to free improvisation are included in the regional network, including Ass. Gruppo Area di Ricerca – Dobialab.
On the second Better Live tour, musicians from Norway and Poland come to visit. Hans Kjorstad (violin), Sigrid Aftret (saxophone), Christian Meaas Svendsen (bass) and Patrycja Wybrańczyk (drums) are improvising musicians with roots in jazz, contemporary music and folk. They work in many different constellations and genres and travel the world to varying degrees with their own and foreign music. They will be joined in various venues by several local improvisers, in our case: Giorgio Pacorig (piano).
Better Live is co-financed by the European Union’s Creative Europe Program and is part of Zavod Sploh’s Razsrediščenja concert series.
